Past Maritime Cyprus Conferences |
The idea for a shipping conference to be held on the island, first came to Mr. Zenon Katsourides, Former Adviser to the President on Maritime Affairs, during a meeting in London of all the Principals of the Baltic Exchange.
The first Maritime Cyprus took place in 1989 and had a phenomenal success, resulting in over 800 shipping people attending the three day conference, half of whom had come from 35 countries and the rest from locally based shipping and related companies. During those three days, Cyprus had become the focus of international activity.
Since then, hundreds of executives meet in Cyprus and benefit from this biennial conference which is now widely accepted as one of the most important maritime events in the international shipping calendar.
