Features of the Index

The present Index contains all the Circulars (Notices) issued by the Department of Merchant Shipping of the Republic of Cyprus as on 1.2.2004, addressed to the following two categories of interested parties of the Cyprus maritime industry:

The Index is divided into two Parts:

The Index in both its Parts refers to the date of issue of the circulars.

In Part I special footnotes give information about the status of the circulars (i.e.: superseded,amended,obsolete etc.).

On this point it must be noted that certain circulars,issued in the past, contain information provided by foreign authorities and various Organizations.Their status is uncertain,and therefore we are not sure whether they are still applicable or obsolete.In such cases, interested persons should directly contact the foreign authorities/ organizations for further advice on their status.

In Part II a Keyword may refer twice to the same date: this means that two different circulars on the same subject have been issued on the same date and have been addressed separately to two different categories of interested parties.

[Footnotes]

(1): indicates that the circular is superseded/or amended by a more recent circular.
(2): indicates that the circular is obsolete.
(3): indicates that the circular is also addressed/or copied to all Cyprus Consuls. Since 1993 all circulars addressed to the Owners, Managers and Representatives of Ships under the Cyprus flag are also copied to all Cyprus Consuls.
(4): indicates that the circular is also addressed/or copied to all Shipping Agents in Cyprus.
(5): indicates that the circular is also addressed/or copied to all Authorised Classification Societies.
(6): indicates that the circular is also addressed/or copied to all Recognized Accounting Authorities.
(7): indicates that the circular contains information provided in the past by foreign authorities / organizations, and therefore it may be obsolete. Interested persons should directly contact the foreign authorities/organizations for further advice on its status.
