Circular No.: 7/2001
TEN 1/5
TEN 32/4/16

27 February 2001

To All Owners, Managers and Representatives of Ships under the Cyprus Flag

Subject: Service Activation/Deactivation of Maritime Mobile Earth Station by Point of Service Activation (PSA) as from 10th of March 2001.

I refer to the above subject and I wish to inform you that as a result of the PSA concept established by Inmarsat Ltd, the Ministry of Communications and Works will stop processing applications for Maritime Mobile Earth Stations as from 10th of March 2001.

As a consequence, Owners/managers of Cyprus Flag Ships should, for the purpose of processing the above services, nominate their preferred PSA, which must be selected from the attached list of PSAs approved by the Cyprus Government.

The point of service Activation (PSA) is an entity that is contracted to Inmarsat and approved by National Administrations, where needed, to accept and process applications for MES Service activation.

The PSA offers similar services to those previously provided by the Routing Organisation (RO).

An Inmarsat Service Provider (ISP), an Accounting Authority (AA) a MES Manufacturer or any other entity may be a PSA.

The current list of approved PSAs, contains 5 entities and it will be amended as soon as any alterations occur.

An up to date list of approved PSAs will be shown on our web-site: www.shipping.gov.cy.
