IMO Circular for the year 2000 (Y2K) problem.

To all Owners, Masters, Managers and Representatives of Ships  under the Cyprus flag

Further to our circular no. 4/99 dated 16 February 1999 we wish to inform you that on 3 and 4 March 1999 a meeting was held at the Headquarters of the IMO concerning the Y2K problem. A circular issued at the end of that meeting is attached for your information and appropriate action, concerning:

1. The Year 2000 Code of Good Practice (annex 1) and
2. Key elements of Y2K contingency plans for ships, ports and terminals (annex 2).

A letter from the Government of Chile to the IMO concerning the same problem with the actions they have taken is also attached.

You are urged to take due note of the above information and to ensure that the year 2000 problem has been satisfactorily dealt with by your company.
