COMPANY RESPONSIBILITIES WITH RESPECT TO STCW78 CONVENTION as Amended

The revised STCW78 Convention considerably extends the responsibilities of the Company. Under the STCW78 Convention as amended,  the Company is responsible for ensuring that the provisions of Regulation I/14 and Section A-I/14 & A-VIII/1 of the STCW Code are met for each of its ships to which the STCW78 Convention as amended applies, in each of the following areas:

• Certification of Seafarers on Board 
• Safe Manning
• Documentation and record keeping of seafarer training
• Ship-specific familiarization training or instruction for new crewmembers
• Effective co-ordination of crew on board
• Fitness of each watchkeeping seafarer for duty

 In accordance with the Regulation I/14.1.1 of  the STCW78 Convention as amended,  the Company must ensure that each seafarer assigned to any of its ships holds an appropriate Certificate in accordance with the provisions of the Convention.
